Pressureless Sintered Silicon Carbide (SSiC)
Pressureless sintered silicon carbide ceramics use high-purity, ultra-fine silicon carbide powder as raw material, add a small amount of sintering aids such as boron and carbon, and densify the silicon carbide powder through a high-temperature sintering process without applying additional pressure, thereby preparing high-performance silicon carbide materials.
In the traditional sintering process, it is usually necessary to apply a certain amount of pressure to the powder to promote its densification. However, this method often causes stress concentration and defects inside the material, affecting its performance. In contrast, the pressureless sintered silicon carbide process uses a special additive, such as low-melting-point metals or ceramic powders such as boron and aluminum, which can react with silicon carbide powder during sintering to form a liquid phase. The appearance of the liquid phase helps to reduce the sintering temperature and accelerate the densification process of silicon carbide powder, thereby achieving pressureless sintering. The performance of pressureless sintered silicon carbide products is better than that of reaction-sintered silicon carbide products.

Advantages of Pressureless Sintered Silicon Carbide
-High hardness: Its hardness is second only to diamond and cubic boron nitride, and it has excellent wear resistance. It can be used to manufacture mechanical seals, sandblasting nozzles, bulletproof parts, and other parts that require high hardness.
-High-temperature strength: It can be used reliably even at a high temperature of 1600℃ in the air, and is suitable for rollers, heat exchange tubes, square beams, kiln plates, and other parts in high-temperature kilns.
-Excellent thermal shock resistance: Due to its high thermal conductivity and small thermal expansion coefficient, it has excellent thermal shock resistance. Compared with other refractory materials, it can withstand rapid thermal cycles. For example, in equipment applications such as ceramic heat exchangers, they can withstand rapid changes in temperature without breaking.
-Strong corrosion resistance: It has stable chemical properties and has good resistance to corrosion by corrosive media such as acids, alkalis, and salts. In the chemical industry, it can be used to manufacture chemical pump seals, high-temperature ultra-thin kiln furniture, etc.
-Low density: Compared with some other metal materials, the density of pressureless sintered silicon carbide products is low, which is conducive to reducing the overall weight of the equipment, and has more advantages in fields such as aerospace that have strict weight requirements.
-Good electrical insulation: It is a good electrical insulation material and can be used to make insulating parts in the electronic and electrical fields
