Pyrolytic Boron Nitride

Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN) ceramics are produced using a CVD process (Chemical Vapor Deposition) where all the Boron Nitride crystals grow parallel to the vapor deposited surface. PBN is also known as Chemical Vapor Deposited Boron Nitride.
PBN is deposited by the reaction of ammonia and boron halides at high temperature and high vacuum. It can be deposited in flakes/strips or directly into PBN end products such as tubes, rings and thin-walled containers (crucibles).
Compared to hot pressed Boron Nitride (BN), no hot-pressing sintering process and binder are required. The material purity is higher than HBN because the raw materials are high purity gases (BCl3 + NH3 –> BN +HCl), and the typical purity of PBN is 99.99%.

PBN is an advanced material with excellent properties, including
-Non-toxic and odorless;
-High purity and high density
-Does not react with acids, alkalis, salts and organic reagents at room temperature, slightly corrodes in molten salt or alkaline solutions, but can withstand corrosion from various acids at high temperatures;
-Does not react with most molten metals, semiconductors and their compounds;
-Good oxidation resistance below 1000℃;
-Good thermal shock resistance
-High operating temperature, no sublimation point, directly decomposes into B and N above 3000℃

Application of Pyrolytic Boron Nitride (PBN)
-Ideal container for element purification
-Widely used in aviation, aerospace, electronics, chemical industry, special metallurgy, medical and other fields.
-With its high density and high purity, PBN is becoming a widely used material in vacuum processes.
-It is an ideal material for making crystal growth crucibles, especially for the preparation of next-generation compound semiconductors such as GaAs, InP, etc.

Edgetech Industries Ceramics Division is a leading supplier of ceramic materials. We provide high-purity and competitively priced boron nitride products. Due to the CVD process, the thickness of PBN products is usually less than 3 mm. Available PBN ceramic products include PBN crucibles (VGF / LEC / cone / MBE / OLED), plates, tubes, strips, discs, rings, machined and customized parts, etc.
