Factors affecting the shielding performance of high-density tungsten alloys
The shielding performance of high-density tungsten alloys refers to the ability of alloy materials to prevent radiation such as gamma rays, X-rays and beta rays from penetrating. Tungsten alloy are widely used in the medical and nuclear fields due to their excellent shielding performance. They can be used to make collimators, syringes, shielding funnels, shielding cans, shielding blankets, multi-leaf gratings and other products.
When the material composition and density are the same, the material thickness is also an important factor affecting the shielding performance of tungsten alloys. Generally speaking, the thicker the material, the better the shielding effect of tungsten alloys. However, when the material thickness exceeds a certain range, the effect of improving the shielding performance of the alloy begins to decrease, and even reaches saturation. This is because when the material thickness is too large, the amount of electromagnetic waves absorbed is already large enough, and further increasing the material thickness will not significantly improve its shielding performance.
In terms of material shape, when the material composition, density and thickness are the same, the shielding effect of spherical alloy materials is better than that of flat materials, because spherical materials can better reflect electromagnetic waves.
Surface treatment will also affect the shielding performance of high-density tungsten alloys. For example, coating the surface with conductive coatings can improve its shielding effect
