Nitinol Rod
Edgetech Industries LLC produces high-quality nitinol rods from various grades of nickel-titanium alloy, offering a wide range of Af (austenite finish) temperatures to suit diverse applications, particularly in the medical field.
Medical-grade nitinol consists of nearly equal atomic percentages of nickel and titanium. According to ASTM F2063, surgical implant applications require a nickel content of 54.5–57% by weight. For non-medical uses, nitinol with different compositions and phase transformation temperatures can be customized to meet specific requirements.

Understanding NiTi Alloys: Superelastic vs. Shape Memory
NiTi (Nickel-Titanium) alloys are primarily classified into two types based on their transition temperatures: superelastic and shape memory.
Superelastic NiTi alloys have lower transition temperatures, typically between -20°C and 22°C (-4°F to 71.6°F), making them ideal for medical devices that require flexibility and resilience.
Shape memory NiTi alloys feature higher transition temperatures, usually ranging from 22°C to 80°C (71.6°F to 176°F), with some specialized grades exceeding 85°C (185°F). These alloys are commonly used in actuators and industrial applications where precise thermal responsiveness is critical.
At Edgetech, we further refine these categories into specialized grades with tighter temperature tolerances, ensuring optimal performance for your specific application needs.

Nitinol wire is precision-drawn from nickel-titanium alloy rods, ensuring consistent mechanical properties and performance. For threaded fasteners, we machine them directly from solid Nitinol rods—a challenging process due to the alloy’s unique properties, including high strength, work hardening, and shape memory effects.
Despite these machining difficulties, our years of expertise allow us to produce high-quality custom Nitinol threaded rods tailored to your specifications. Whether you need precise threading, specific transition temperatures, or specialized surface finishes, we can deliver reliable solutions for demanding applications in medical, aerospace, and industrial sectors.
Key Advantages:
Precision Machining: Overcoming Nitinol’s toughness to produce accurate, burr-free threads.
Material Consistency: Starting with high-quality rods for uniform wire and fastener performance.
Custom Solutions: Tailoring dimensions, tolerances, and thermal properties to your requirements.
We can also program custom shape when heating nitinol rod, please send us your request to sales@edge-techind.com for any needs on titanium nickel alloy.
