Gadolinium (Gd) Sputtering Target
Gadolinium, another silvery white metal, has various specific applications. With high neutron cross-section, gadolinium is used in neutron radiography and as shielding in nuclear reactors. A small amount of gadolinium can improve the workability and resistance of other metals. Gadolinium is used as a neutron therapy for tumor treatment and its complexes are intravenously administrated as excellent MRI contrast agents. As a phosphor, gadolinium has different applications in imaging. For example, gadolinium oxysulfide is an efficient host for producing nanophosphors. Gadolinium compounds can also be used as scintillators which have applications in medical imaging.
